Well, hello friends and followers! This is my very first blog – EVER – and post-release. So, what has my first week been like following the 8/21/14 release of Trust Me? CRAZY! I’m not sure my stomach will ever be the same again. Nerves. Excitement. Sleepless nights. Oh, I’ve had it all!
First off, I honestly didn’t know if I would ever really do this. I’ve had ideas bouncing around in my head for story lines for years. One Sunday morning this past March, I decided to sit down at my computer and write. I had no clue what, if anything, would come of it. I sent a text to my best friend and told her what I was doing. She immediately replied with encouragement and excitement. The story line for Trust Me was always in the front of my mind. I love big brother best friend stories. But, I knew I wanted to add the Brooklyn twist. I also wasn’t sure about the age gap of Avery and Maddox. But a good friend at work discussed it with me, and it just fit.
I am a girl searching for the Happily Ever After. While I enjoy a good book filled with heartache, drama, and personal agony, I knew that this was not the kind of book I wanted to write. I wanted smiles and laughter, and maybe a few tears mixed in from time to time.
I had no idea what to expect with releasing a book. So, I set a goal of selling 100 e-books. I would be SO happy to sell 100 copies. Well, to my complete surprise and shock, I sold that within the first 48 hours. And that number keeps climbing.
I am in the middle of the Blog Tour put together by Kelley @ Smut Book Junkies Book Blog. I had 63 sign up! 63! For an unknown author with a debut release! I was completely amazed and shocked with that response. I’ve been following the bloggers who signed up and appreciate their support and kind words more than they will ever know! And thank you, Kelley, for your direction and help with the Tour!
My author friend, Amanda Lanclos put together a release party for me on Release Day. The fact that she took time out of her own day – away from her adorable daughter and her own writings – to do this for me is appreciated more than she will ever know. After I sat down and started writing Trust Me, I sent Amanda a PM through Facebook. She was about to release her first book, Irreparable, and I knew her through 2 Street Teams we are both members of. She has been one of my sources for information. But she is so much more than that – she became my friend! She is actually one of the first couple of people to read Trust Me (months ago) and is one of only 3 people who have read book 2. THANK YOU also to Lauren Blakely, Ruth Cardello, and Ella Emerson for their donations to the Release Party. You ladies rock my world!
I have had readers contacting me via email, FB, and twitter. Seriously! I am completely humbled by their kind words and their praises for Trust Me. I want to make sure that I am completely open and accessible to readers who want to talk to me (good or bad – I promise not to bite you if you didn’t like my book). The very first author I ever contacted was Lauren Blakely. It seemed so crazy to contact an author, but I had a question about one of her amazing books. She replied within 24 hours and I felt like I already knew her. She was so open and friendly and to this day, she is one of my most favorite persons EVER. And someday I will go fan-girl crazy and meet her face to face. So, it is my desire to be like that for my readers. Contact me if you so desire.
I still have to pinch myself DAILY to remind myself that this is real. I am no where near a Best Sellers list and that is 100% okay with me! I am just so excited to be embraced by this warm community of readers and fellow authors.
What’s next? J-A-K-E! You met Jake as Avery’s bossy, brooding oldest brother in Trust Me, and Maddox’s best friend. Did you read the sneak peek Prologue at the end of Trust Me? You were just introduced to how Erin Anderson and Jake Stevens met. I can NOT wait for you to read their story. But I promise you, the next book has plenty of Avery, Maddox, Brooklyn, and the rest of the Stevens Family! Their stories will continue on in each book.
More? Yep! There will be more! After Jake and Erin, we will dive into Travis Stevens. Travis is the youngest boy (and I noticed in a few reviews that he’s often forgotten about). Travis’s story is already laid out in my mind. He’s softer than Jake, but still Stevens alpha. And the woman to bring him to his knees is so very perfect for him. Just you wait!!
Readers – Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for taking a chance on this unknown author! I had no idea of what to expect when I started this journey, but it is SO much more than I could have ever imagined! I appreciate every purchase, every review, every comment and note. You are the reason I will sit back down at my computer and write more.
